The emergence of the information society has widely changed the lifestyle of individuals. One of the most significant differences are the alterations caused by the adaptation of new media technologies in both the household and work fields. Currently, statistics show that more than 70% of American households have personal computers for the whole family to use, and more than 80% of jobs in America require basic computing knowledge (Levine, 2005). This illustrates how computers have become a necessity in modern society. “However, the extensive use of computers in our societies means that we all have to become more aware of the health effects that computers may have on us, the people using them? (Wettlaufer, 2003).

The new media’s implication on health has always been a concern in society, demonstrating both positive and negative impacts. Studies have indicated that excessive use of new media technologies, such as computers, contains a possible risk of gaining various negative impacts on health. On the other hand, the support of new media technologies, allows massive innovation in the medical field to conduct further, deeper research to produce effectiveness in health care.
