There are many misconceptions about online dating and because of this many people who have thought about using online dating as a source of meeting people decided against the notion because of a misunderstanding or misconception about the concept.
Some people who have used online dating have stopped, after meeting men who are married, otherwise dissembling, or only interested in sex. These bad experiences are carried on through word of mouth to friends and family, these stories are usually exaggerated and dramatised, making the meetings and men sound even worse than they really were, which is how misconceptions can be created.

Being drunk, negative conversation, self-pity and not laughing at their jokes.
What turns men on?
Eye contact - men love flirty eyes and lots of smiles. They like it when you focus your attention on them and are genuinely interested in knowing them better.
What turns women off?
Unsolicited sexual advances. Bragging about past conquests. Checking out other women. Constantly talking about yourself and not listening to her. Bad hygiene, bad attitude. Calling her 'babe' on the first date.
What turns women on?
Lots of eye contact, attentiveness, being a good listener. The chivalry of good manners: holding open doors.
One of the biggest dating mistakes:
When people are in too much of a hurry to settle down. Disaster! They hook up with the first person who comes along, instead of dating several people and making a powerful choice as to what's best for them. Give yourself time to choose.
There are many misconceptions about online dating, which can deter people from using online dating facilities. Users and potentials users need to be aware and up to date with information, as to be properly informed with the correct information, to keep safe and be knowledgeable in the online dating scene.
