The future of the online collaborative music scene is an area open to little more than optimistic conjecture – [Online_Music_Scene_-_Collaborative_Resources_online | the demise of the Rocket Network]] showed just how unpredictable this burgeoning area can be. However, stability appears to be on the increase, and with more and more artists discovering the advantageous nature of collaborating online, not to mention the increasing reliability and speed of internet connections, this field would certainly appear to be succeeding in drawing together an ever more active collective of participants. Optimism for the future of this “scene would not seem to be without merit.
As this environment grows, so too do the technological innovations geared towards its participants. With the Plus Piano mentioned in the resources section, plus Gibson’s new Digital Guitar format, instrument makes seem to be tuned in to the technologically oriented music world that is springing up around us. While the future stability of individual services may not be assured, it would seem more than safe to say that musically collaborating via the internet will not pass in a hurry. It is exciting to ponder just what the future may hold for artists working together in this way. Will we live to see a number one single made via the internet? Time will, almost certainly, tell.
