Gabriel, C, Wymann, B. 2000. MP3-Ltd: Enterasys embraces MP3 for corporate communications.M2 Presswire,56872562(accessed August 11,2004, from ProQuest : ProQuest Computing database)

This journal article highlights the advantages of MP3 technology and how it is used in a company know as Enterasys Networks, an Organisation specialising in providing business communications solutions and part of the Cabletron Systems group of companies. The company needed a system that would allow them to communicate effectively with their employees in terms of training them and preparing them to go out and clinch deals. But in order to enable this, employees and trainers would have to put aside lots of time to go for classes. Not all employees and trainers are able to always get together for training; therefore a new system was needed to enable more effective communication. An idea to be able to listen to messages on the move was suggested and it was immediately worked on. Trainers are now able to record their own lectures and convert them to MP3 format, and to post them on the company’s intranet or internet websites. Employees are then able to access this information and download them onto the MP3 players provided to them by the company known as MP3 Ltd. This has enabled the employees to listen to their downloaded training session and seminars in MP3 format, on their MP3 players at any time they want to; while driving, having lunch, before sleep, on land, sea, or even in the air. This has solved the problem of employees and trainers not being able to attend training sessions all the time. And more so, this system also adds a touch of personality of the trainer as it is recorded in the trainers voice and also the company’s global employee base are able to download training sessions and follow ups, saving money on the cost of producing tapes and CD’s. This shows the advancement in MP3 technology and how it is being used in the business world for corporate communication.
