In today’s world, there is a growing trend to make things simple. This movement has influenced technology substantially. Computer technology continues to evolve quickly and thus, new technology soon becomes old technology. However, this trend has its benefits for ordinary, everyday people. Devices that were once complicated and expensive, yet work to make life easier, have become available to the general public. With prices being relatively affordable, home owners can now build a home office that is technologically advanced, but simple and clutter-free. This is where wireless technology and wireless devices become useful.
The concept of having no wires connecting devices to each other is appealing for several reasons. Wires can be complicated and untidy; having no wires is aesthetically pleasing. Also, with the popularity of wireless networking growing, particularly in the home, the array of devices that use wireless technology have increased dramatically. Companies such as Toshiba, LG, Motorolla and Nokia have intergrated wireless technology into their latest products.
Cordless keyboards and mice have become a must-have in crowded home offices. Although they may seen relatively mundane, considering what other technology is availably, these essential computing accessories have become neat and attractive instead of clunky and difficult to move. There are also printers that can communicate with mobile devices such as pocket PC’s, laptops and capable mobile phones. Using wireless technology minimizes desk clutter and reiterates the strong market for technology that allows for simplicity within the home office. The majority of these devices are Bluetooth enabled, which means uses can synchronize, connect, share and listen without wires.
However, wireless devices have now begun to expand to other areas of the home. In fact, microwave ovens, washer/dryers and fridges are now being designed with Bluetooth capabilities. These devices are usually configured to interact with a home automation system. Many of these products are currently available only in Europe and Asia, where the market for space-saving and economical devices that are more practical is booming. They are not as common today, whitegoods and other domestic electrical goods that have the power to communicate with one another are sure to become popular as the devices become more affordable for the general public.
The home is also becoming a multi-media hub. Digital cameras are no longer a novelty item and sharing digital pictures with family and friends is no longer restricted to huddling around the PC. Devices that allow JPG images from a computer or camera phone to be viewed on an ordinary television are being introduced to the market. Similarly, devices are also being created so that MP3 libraries can be played though televisions, which, when eventually perfected, could have the capability to eliminate the need for stereos.
As the technology becomes easier to integrate into the lifestyles of everyday people, wireless communications will become more wide spread and common. The technology will continue to evolve and expand into other areas that will ultimately assist in simplifying lives worldwide.
